On December 31, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology.
The head of state was informed about the work of the RSPC and the prospects for its development, told about the existing material base and structure of the institution. He was interested in the dynamics in the incidence of children.
"The average annual growth in our country is exactly the same as in European countries - less than 1%. The annual growth is 0.76%," said the director of the RSPC Angelica Solntseva.
She noted with regret that about half of those who get sick for the first time are children of an early age and the first four years of life. "There is also a genetic breakdown.
But genetics without the influence of environmental factors may not appear so early," - said the director of the institution.
Alexander Lukashenko was also interested in scientific work in the RSPC in detail. And in this direction there are significant achievements. "We have something to be proud of. High-tech methods of treatment have been created. For example, a special vaccine for the treatment of patients with certain oncological diseases. For those patients who are resistant to conventional therapy. Success is very good," said Angelica Solntseva.
Nevertheless, for the further development and achievement of great success in the treatment of patients, it is necessary to improve the material base of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center, and to update engineering communications. Alexander Lukashenko noted that it is necessary to decide what needs to be done.
The head of state also got acquainted with the organization of medical care for children with oncological diseases.
